Clarence Calhoun Jeter, Jr.

North Augusta, SC—Funeral Services for Mr. Clarence C. Jeter, Jr., 83, who entered into rest January 12, 2019, will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock in Grace United Methodist Church. Rev. Randall L. Haase, Dr. John M. Younginer, Jr., and Dr. T. Joseph Lusk officiating.

Mr. Jeter was a native of Spartanburg, SC, raised in the Panama Canal Zone because of his father’s employment and had made North Augusta his home for the past 68 years. He was a graduate of Carlisle Military Academy, Augusta College and received a Masters Degree from Georgia Southern University. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he had served as the Business Administrator, Chairman of the Council of Ministries and Nuturing Ministries and a Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Jeter was a Veteran of the US Air Force and had served as President of the North Augusta Elementary School PTA as well as President of the North Augusta Area PTA Council and Treasurer of the Community Ministries of North Augusta.

Mr. Jeter was a former Department Manager at Sears and retired with 28 years of service as a Senior Manager with the Signal School at Fort Gordon where he received the Commanders Medal and a Declaration of Meritorious Civilian Service. He was appointed by Georgia Governors Busbee and Harris to the Georgia High Technology Advisory Council and was a member and Vice Chairman of the Augusta Technical Advisory Board. Following his retirement, he operated a consulting and training business until full retirement in 1995.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Mark Tollison, Browns Summit, NC; three grandchildren, Alexander (Tyann Stubbs) Tollison, Callie Sherrill Tollison and Christian Brantlee Jeter; special friends, Carla and Clint Wilder. Mr. Jeter was predeceased by his wives, Arlis Marion Drew Jeter and Betsy Graybill Nunamaker Jeter and a son, Christopher Wilson Jeter.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 5 until 7.
